Holly Read donated four beautiful quilts. this one is a pattern called Pointless Wonder. All fabric came from her stash and she donated the poly batting. Also she free motion quilted all of these.
Here is another fabulous quilt donated by Holly Read. This was made from Holly's extensive stash of batik fabrics. Gorgeous!
Holly made this throw-size quilt by starting with some orphan blocks that were donated at the Guild's September meeting. It is a real treasure. The blocks are so creative and if you look closely you'll see that they are adorned with buttons and bling!
Here is another quilt Holly made from orphan blocks. Lovely batik fabrics are combined in a range of patterns - and the quilting is really impressive!
What a fun day we had making quilts for Cross Roads House! Nothing better than working together with other quilters for a great cause.
Patty Crafts and Patti Sullivan worked together in putting a new quilt top together that was designed by Elysia Williams at the last COD

Purpose: Together we will string-stitch twin sized quilts for Cross Roads House in Portsmouth, NH. It will be an assembly-line style process to maximize our productivity. The quilts will measure a minimum size of 70” x 90" - the photo on the left shows an example of a string quilt design. There will be 3 “stations” so each person doesn’t have to bring their whole sewing room. You may choose your station - simply fill in the form below indicating which station you prefer. Trading spots during the day is fine. There will be a Janome Travel Mate machine for anyone to try stitching on.
This is a day dedicated to service, so no personal quilts, please. Guests are welcome to join - so invite a friend! We usually do string quilts (here's a good description of what that is: https://newquilters.com/how-to-make-string-quilts/) because they are easy and come together fast. You may also bring a kit you are working on. We will have fabric strips to use or you may bring your own fabric.
Here are the stations;
Designer /Cutter: Cut, organize and lay out strips, creating a design of your choice or following suggestions offered. You may also bring a kit you are working on for your team. Once design is set, send them back to the stitchers for final assembly of the quilt top.
Bring:
Stitcher: Chain-piece blocks that will be given to you.
Bring:
Presser: Prepare strips for design, press open strips coming from stitcher, rough trim block & threads if necessary, gather scraps & return to designer.
Bring:
All: If available, please bring scrap strips approximately 1 1/2” to 3” wide to share (no need to cut length). To help us be more productive, please divide lights and darks, feminine and masculine or unisex fabrics. Separate solids into one group. Please don’t cut up your good stuff! We want scraps only.
